What has remained the same in Lotto?
Many things have remained the same in Lotto. Five numbers out of a possible 90 are drawn, and players with the winning numbers may claim their prize. As regards the type of game, you still have five choices to choose from between Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno, or Terno-Ambo.

What’s new in Lotto?

Many improvements have been made to the game. Through the coupon system, you will be attended to more efficiently at your chosen Point of Sale (Lotto Booth). You may also buy a ticket which will remain valid for a number of consecutive draws. Finally, you may now keep on playing up until one hour before the draw, which is held every Saturday at 7:10pm.

Albeit some limitations as explained in the Winnings section, improvements were also made to the winning structures of the game. In fact, winnings on Terno have been doubled from 2,000 to 4,000 times the stake. In the Quaterno game, if a player plays a Quaterno and guesses 2 numbers from the 5 numbers drawn, he now wins €30. If he guesses 3 numbers from the 5 drawn, he wins €500 and if he guesses all 4 numbers from the 5 drawn, he wins €200,000 or the relative jackpot amount. Winnings on Prima and Ambo have remained the same.

How does one win in Lotto?

To win in Lotto, you have to match your selected numbers with the numbers drawn. The winning depends on the type of game played (Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno, Terno-Ambo) and the stake.

Where can I play Lotto?

What is the difference between a coupon and a ticket?

A coupon is a printed form which is used by a player before purchasing a Lotto ticket to indicate the selection of numbers and playing options. The ticket is the receipt you will be given after presenting your coupon to the POS and after paying the relative amount. The ticket is the only legal receipt which can be used to claim a prize.

What is a “Column”?
A column is created by selecting your game (Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno, Terno-Ambo) and the corresponding amount of numbers.

PLAYING OPTIONS:

What types of games can one play with Lotto?
You have four basic types of games to choose from: Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno, as well as a fifth type of game: Terno-Ambo.
When playing Prima you need to choose the number you believe will be drawn first. With Ambo you place your bet on any two of the five numbers to be drawn. With Terno you place a bet on any three of the five numbers to be drawn. With the New Quaterno you can now place a bet and be a winner if you guess two, three or four from the five numbers drawn. In the case of Terno-Ambo even though you select three numbers, you will also be a winner if only two out of those three are drawn.

What’s the difference between a “Simple Column” and a “Fully Expanded System”?
A simple column of numbers is created by selecting your game (Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno, Terno-Ambo) and the corresponding amount of numbers.
An alternative to the Simple Column is the Fully Expanded System, which is also known as a Combination Coupon. This option allows you to create various columns by choosing more than the stipulated amount of numbers for each game type. So, for example, in the case of Prima, you can choose more than one number, for an Ambo more than two numbers, and so on.

Can I play a number of different games on one coupon?

Yes. You may play a different type of game on each Game Area.
Note: The New Quaterno game type category has to always be played on a separate coupon.

What is the minimum amount of money I can bet in a Game Area?

The minimum amount of money that can be played in a Game Area is €0.25.
Note: In the case of the New Quaterno game type category only, you must select a basic stake of €2.00.

What does “Void” mean on the coupon?

Should you wish to cancel one of the Game Areas on the coupon just mark the VOID box within that particular Game Area. If, for example, you cancel Game Area A, the choices you marked in Game Area B, C, and D would still be valid.

What does “Quick Pick” mean on the coupon?

With the Quick Pick option, the on-line terminal randomly picks your numbers. To access this option mark the Quick Pick box on your coupon and choose and mark a number (up to 20) from the Game Area to indicate the amount of numbers you would like the terminal to randomly pick for you. Finally choose and mark your basic stake and the type of game you would like to play (Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno, Terno-Ambo)

What does “Multiplier” mean on the coupon?
The Multiplier option allows you to multiply your basic stake. Just select the box with the multiplier of your choice. By marking a box in the Multiplier Section, from two to ten, you have the option of multiplying your stake by two to ten times. You may also additionally mark the box (x5) and / or (x10) together with one more multiplier box from two up to ten. Using this method you have the option of multiplying your stake up to a maximum of 500 times. Please note that the “Multiplier” box marked will multiply the total stake for BOTH Game Areas.
Note: A player will not be able to make use of the multiplier if in any game area of the coupon the player plays the New Quaterno game.

What does “Consecutive Draws” mean on the coupon?
With the same coupon you may participate in more than one draw with the same numbers. All you have to do is mark a number from two to ten in the Consecutive Draws section to participate in that particular number of consecutive draws. You may then additionally mark the boxes (x2) or (x3) to further increase the number of consecutive draws that you participate in. You can participate in up to a maximum of 30 consecutive draws.
Please note that the Consecutive Draws selection is valid for both Game Areas of the coupon. The total cost of all the consecutive draws must be paid when purchasing the ticket.

Lost, Damaged, Incorrect Tickets:

I have just noticed that the Lotto Receiver gave me the wrong numbers. Can I cancel the ticket?

It is your responsibility to ensure that the numbers printed on the ticket are correct before leaving the Point Of Sale (Lotto Booth). Ticket cancellation may take place within 10 minutes from the time the ticket was issued, provided that the cancellation takes place before the game period elapses. You have a right to a refund of your stake.

Will MALTCO LOTTERIES LIMITED lower the prizes in case of a draw with
abnormally large winnings?

When the total value of all prizes, of all game categories, except Quaterno, exceeds 70% of total sales in a particular draw, MALTCO LOTTERIES Limited can reduce each prize proportionately so that the value of all prizes of these games shall not exceed such an amount. However, in the event that the winnings in any particular draw are less than 30% of sales, then the winnings shall be adjusted upwards so that the total winnings for that particular draw shall amount to 30% of sales of that draw.

In the event that the Quaterno Category I Prize is not won during a particular draw, then this prize shall be increased (together with its associated capping) by a minimum increment of €5,000 (or as may be advised by MALTCO LOTTERIES from time to time) each week until it is won.

The Quaterno Category I Prize will revert to the minimum amount of €200,000, for the draw immediately following that in which it has been won and will thereafter increase by the minimum increment of €5,000 (or as may be advised by MALTCO LOTTERIES from time to time) per week until it is won.

If in any particular draw, there is more than one winning column in Category I in the Quaterno game, then the top prize won on the Quaterno in that same draw, will be split according to the number of winning columns.

If for example, in a particular draw where the Category I prize is €200,000, and Player A plays a Quaterno fully expanded ticket of 5 numbers and matches all 5 numbers, and Player B plays a Quaterno ticket with 4 numbers and matches all 4 numbers, then both of them are winners of the top category prize in the Quaterno game. Player A will win €166,667, whilst Player B will win €33,333.

Furthermore, in the event that winnings in Category II and Category III in any one draw exceed seventy percent (70%) of the sales of the Quaterno Game for that particular draw, MALTCO LOTTERIES may exercise at its discretion the option to limit such winnings to not less than seventy percent (70%) of the sales of the Quaterno Game for that draw.

Notwithstanding, MALTCO LOTTERIES Limited reserves the right to choose to pay more than all the limitations indicated above.
