What’s new in Lotto?
Lotto is a game of chance using a field of numbers from 1 to 90. Five (5) winning numbers are randomly drawn from 1 to 90 for each Lotto draw to determine the Prima, Ambo, and Terno winning combinations. An additional three (3) winning numbers will also be drawn, so that all eight (8) balls are used to determine only the winning combination of the five (5) numbers of the Quaterno Plus game.
To win, all you have to do is to match your selected numbers with the drawn numbers. The more numbers you play, the more you increase your winning probabilities.
Following is a table showing the corresponding winning amounts for each Game Type:
| Game Type |
Winning amount |
Odds |
| Prima |
60 times the stake |
1:90 |
| Ambo |
215 times the stake |
1:400 |
| Terno |
3,500 times the stake |
1:11,748 |
When the total value of all prizes, of all game categories, except Quaterno Plus, exceeds 130% of total sales in a particular draw, MALTCO LOTTERIES Limited can reduce each prize proportionately so that the value of all prizes of these games shall not exceed such an amount.
| Game Type |
Winning amount |
Odds |
| Quaterno Plus |
|
|
| Category I |
€250,000 (or more) when guessing 5 from the 8 numbers drawn |
1:784,808 |
| Category II |
€750 when guessing 4 from the 8 numbers drawn |
1:7,656 |
| Category III |
€50 when guessing 3 from the 8 numbers drawn |
1:236 |
In the event that the Quaterno Plus Category I Prize is not won during a particular draw, then this prize shall be increased (together with its associated capping) by a minimum increment of €10,000 (or as may be advised by MALTCO LOTTERIES from time to time) each week until it is won.
The Quaterno Plus Category I Prize will revert to the minimum amount of €250,000 for the draw immediately following that in which it has been won and will thereafter increase by the minimum increment of €10,000 (or as may be advised by MALTCO LOTTERIES from time to time) per week until it is won.
If in any particular draw, there is more than one winning column in Category I in the Quaterno Plus game, then the top prize won on the Quaterno Plus in that same draw, will be split according to the number of winning columns.
If for example, in a particular draw where the Category I prize is €250,000, and Player A plays a Quaterno Plus fully expanded ticket of 7 numbers and matches 6 numbers, and Player B plays a Quaterno Plus ticket with 5 numbers and matches all 5 numbers, then both of them are winners of the top category prize in the Quaterno Plus game. Player A will win €214,285.71 (6 top winning columns) whilst Player B will win €35,714.29 (1 top winning category).
Furthermore, in the event that winnings in Category II and Category III in any one draw exceed seventy percent (70%) of the sales of the Quaterno Plus Game for that particular draw, MALTCO LOTTERIES may exercise at its discretion the option to limit such winnings to not less than seventy percent (70%) of the sales of the Quaterno Plus Game for that draw.
Notwithstanding, MALTCO LOTTERIES Limited reserves the right to choose to pay more than all the limitations indicated above.
How does one win in Lotto?
To win in Lotto, you have to match your selected numbers with the
numbers drawn. The winning depends on the type of game played (Prima,
Ambo, Terno, Quaterno Plus, Terno-Ambo) and the stake.
Where can I play Lotto?
Lotto can be played in any one of MALTCO LOTTERIES Limited’s
Points of Sale (Lotto Booths). A complete list of POSs may be found
by clicking here.
THE COUPON & THE TICKET:
Do I have to use the new coupon system, or can I continue
playing the way I
always have?
You can continue playing in the same way you have been used to. However
the coupon system offers a number of advantages over the previous
system. To begin with you will be attended to, more efficiently at
your chosen Point of Sale (Lotto Booth).
What does a coupon look like?

What does a ticket look like?
The picture below displays what a ticket looks like.
What is the difference between a coupon and a ticket?
A coupon is a printed form which is used by a player before purchasing
a Lotto ticket to indicate the selection of numbers and playing options.
The ticket is the receipt you will be given after presenting your
coupon to the POS and after paying the relative
amount. The ticket is the only legal receipt which can be used to
claim a prize.
What is a “Column”?
A column is created by selecting your game (Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno Plus,
Terno-Ambo) and the corresponding amount of numbers.
PLAYING OPTIONS:
What types of games can one play with Lotto?
You have four basic types of games to choose from: Prima, Ambo, Terno,
Quaterno Plus, as well as a fifth type of game: Terno-Ambo.
When playing Prima you need to choose the number you believe will
be drawn first. With Ambo you place your bet on any two of the initial five
numbers to be drawn. With Terno you place a bet on any three of the
initial five numbers to be drawn. With the Quaterno Plus you can now place a bet
and be a winner if you guess three, four or five from the total eight numbers drawn.
In the case of Terno-Ambo even though you select three numbers, you will
also be a winner if only two out of those three are drawn.
What’s the difference between a “Simple Column”
and a “Fully Expanded System”?
A simple column of numbers is created by selecting your game
(Prima, Ambo, Terno, Quaterno Plus, Terno-Ambo) and the corresponding amount
of numbers.
An alternative to the Simple Column is the
Fully Expanded System, which is also known
as a Combination Coupon. This option allows you to create various
columns by choosing more than the stipulated amount of numbers for
each game type. So, for example, in the case of Prima, you can choose
more than one number, for an Ambo more than two numbers, and so on.
Can I play a number of different games on one coupon?
Yes. You may play a different type of game on each Game Area.
Note: The Quaterno Plus game type category has to always be played on a separate coupon.
What is the minimum amount of money I can bet in a Game Area?
The minimum stake that can be played in a Game Area is €0.50.
Note: In the case of the Quaterno Plus game type category only, you must select a basic stake of €2.00.
What does “VOID” mean on the coupon?
Should you wish to cancel one of the Game Areas on the coupon just
mark the VOID box within that particular Game Area. If, for example,
you cancel Game Area A, the choices you marked in Game Area B, C,
and D would still be valid.
What does “QUICK PICK” mean on the coupon?
With the QUICK PICK option, the on-line
terminal randomly picks your numbers. To access this option mark the
QUICK PICK box on your coupon and choose and mark a number (up to
20) from the Game Area to indicate the amount of numbers you would
like the terminal to randomly pick for you. Finally choose and mark
your basic stake and the type of game you would like to play (Prima,
Ambo, Terno, Quaterno Plus, Terno-Ambo)
What does “MULTIPLIER” mean on the coupon?
The MULTIPLIER option allows you to multiply
your basic stake. Just select the box with the multiplier of your
choice. By marking a box in the Multiplier Section, from two to ten,
you have the option of multiplying your stake by two to ten times.
You may also additionally mark the box (x5) and / or (x10) together
with one more multiplier box from two up to ten. Using this method
you have the option of multiplying your stake up to a maximum of 500
times. Please note that the “MULTIPLIER” box marked will
multiply the total stake for BOTH Game Areas. Note: A player will not be able to make use of the multiplier if in any game area of the coupon the player plays the Quaterno Plus game.
What does “CONSECUTIVE DRAWS” mean on the coupon?
With the same coupon you may participate in more than one draw with
the same numbers. All you have to do is mark a number from two to
ten in the CONSECUTIVE DRAWS section to participate
in that particular number of consecutive draws. You may then additionally
mark the boxes (x2) or (x3) to further increase the number of consecutive
draws that you participate in. You can participate in up to a maximum
of 30 consecutive draws.
Please note that the CONSECUTIVE DRAWS selection is valid for both
Game Areas of the coupon. The total cost of all the consecutive draws
must be paid when purchasing the ticket.

10 minutes from the time the ticket was issued, provided that the
cancellation takes place before the game period elapses. You have
